Are You Designing a Master Bedroom?

Are you in the middle of plans for designing the master bedroom in a brand-new house? Or, it might be that you are redecorating your present master bedroom. From arranging for residential construction painting to buying new accent pieces, here are some ideas that might help you to design a unique and attractive master bedroom that you can enjoy for many years.

House Painting

Probably the first thing on your list is to decide on the wall treatment. if you have decided to go with painted walls, will you do the job yourself? If so, you'll probably save yourself some important money. On the other hand, if you are not a do-it-yourself kind of person, you'll obviously need to arrange for professionals to paint your bedroom walls.

Think of the look you want to establish. For example, for a contemporary look, consider painting the walls behind the bed a dark gray. Select a very light gray for the remaining walls. A light turquoise ceiling would add the look of the sky to your master bedroom.

If you want something more traditional, consider off-white or light blue paint for the bedroom walls. For a more dramatic look, think of selecting jewel tones for the color of the paint. For example, one red wall in connection with off-white painted walls would definitely add interest to a room, wouldn't it?

Think of looking through decorating magazines to get ideas. Or, go on home tours to see what professional decorators have done with wall paint. For example, you might love the look of a faux painted wall that looks like Mexican or Italian tile.

New Accent Pieces

If you're shopping for brand-new furniture, consider the type you want to select. For example, did you go with the dark gray and light gray painted walls in your master bedroom? If so, consider selecting a bed with a black headboard. A black coffee table at the foot of the bed would also add to the contemporary look you want. Provide some color splashes to the room by placing things like red ceramic birds or multi-colored boxes on the coffee table.

For a more traditional look, consider wooden furniture with an intricate design. Add pizzaz to the room by selecting artwork that will complement the color of your walls and the furniture you have selected. For example, if you went with gray paint, consider buying modern art that has a lot of color in it. If you went with a more traditional feeling, think of framing things like oil paintings of flowers or watercolors of children on a beach.
