Once you cover the bushes and plants, place some heavy rocks at the bottom of the material that you're covering them with. The rocks will keep the covering from blowing off with the wind or shifting if they are brushed up against.

Trees

Trees can be hard to handle, but if you can keep a majority of the branches and leaves away from the home, they'll be less likely to get covered in paint or scrape against the fresh paint. To protect the trees, head to your local home improvement store and look for the heavy-duty plastic wrap. This wrap is used to cover carpeting in new construction, as well as wrapping pallets of products to keep everything from falling over. Use that plastic wrap to wrap the tree. Start at the bottom and gently push the branches upwards as you wind the wrap around the tree.
